Current Practice: Tom has developed an extensive practice in real estate and real estate development. Tom has come to specialize in working with cities and counties in that process. Tom's practice includes appropriate litigation when necessary; however, it is Tom's experience that his clients typically achieve better results outside of the courts than in litigation, and for that reason he has come to specialize in negotiation in order to move projects and issues along. Said another way, Tom takes a business approach to the issues brought before him, quickly stripping the emotion out of the decision equation in order to assess the most realistic way to achieve the ends desired and solve the problems at hand.
Tom has also developed a sizeable practice advising small businesses, setting up LLCs and corporations, advising in creditor/debtor and partnership issues, collections, evictions, and other issues that small businesses typically face. Tom's expertise in these areas comes not only from his legal training, but also from his 20 plus years of experience owning and operating his own business.
Along with his other areas, Tom has also remained active in estate planning and probate work, drafting wills, trusts, Powers of Attorney, etc.
Education: In 1983, Tom earned a B.A. in Business Administration with minors in English and Economics from Southern Utah State University. Tom went on to earn a J.D. at Brigham Young University in 1986, concentrating on small business, estate planning and real estate.
Admitted to Practice: 1986, Utah Supreme Court.
Legal Experience: After graduating from law school, Tom worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Cullen Y. Christensen in the Fourth Judicial District Court o
